  • How does a solar rooftop system work?
Category: 1

The idea behind a solar rooftop system is to turn sunlight into electrical power. The photovoltaic effect is the name given to the phenomena.

Sunlight is transformed into electricity when it strikes a solar panel’s photovoltaic cells. DC current is the power generated. That DC power is transformed into usable AC power using an AC combiner unit.

A bidirectional meter receives the generated AC electricity and uses it to power the dwelling. Additionally, if the electricity produced by the rooftop solar system is insufficient to meet daily needs, it imports power from the grid and exports excess power to the DISCOM (grid).
